Impact on recovery

Even though we may not be aware of it, while we sleep our brains and bodies are extremely active undergoing processes to help the body recover from the day before and to allow our hearts to rest. Sleep is vital for strength training recovery, helping to support the muscle-healing process, as our bodies actively repair and build tissue during sleep. Sleeping also helps to prevent illness, did you know your body produces cytokines during sleep, which are hormones that help the immune system fight off infections.

Get the quality shuteye needed for peak physical performance

Consistency is key

Get into a good sleep routine and keep at it. Go to bed at the same time every night, early enough to ensure solid hours of sleep.

Sleep for longer

Research has shown that sleeping for longer can be beneficial if you’re an elite athlete. Recommendations range between nine to ten hours per night. You should also treat sleep with as much importance as your training and diet. If you’re someone who exercises moderately, you do not need as much sleep as elite athletes, and so you can follow the NHS guidelines, which recommend seven to nine hours per night (young adults and adults).

Calm before the storm

Make sure your sleep space feels as zen as possible. If you’re at home, tidy up, refresh your bedding and use our Sports Recovery Pillow for quality sleep.

Soothe your stomach

As we all know, booze, junk food and eating late can wreak havoc after the lights go out at night. To perform at your physical peak, it’s vital to eat right and not too close to bedtime for uninterrupted sleep.

Focus on your goal

Mute any sleep distractions, whether that’s your phone or the TV, to make sure you’re getting the quality sleep needed for optimal focus the next day.

Snooze on the move

Whether you’re a regular gym-goer or professional athlete, you may need to travel to perform. If you’re travelling to different time zones for competitions, you should consider the following:

    • Prepare your sleep schedule by mimicking the time of the destination you’re travelling to in order to quickly adjust to the time upon arrival. Set your watch for the destination time zone.
  • Make sure you’re prioritising your sleep before travelling.
    • Make a comfortable environment – you could take your pillows with you when travelling, as well as earplugs and an eye mask, which can help create a quiet, dark sleep environment.
    • If you’re suffering from jet lag or struggling to sleep, try our Sleep Gummies to help you to drift off and sleep deeper for longer.
  • If your anxiety is getting the best of you, try lavender sleep mist, which will help soothe your nerves for a peaceful night’s sleep

Wasn’t sure how this would help my recovery but it’s been fab. Super comfortable and comforting, this product is great for someone who runs a lot like me, and may have hip/hamstring soreness post-session.

Really nice to snuggle up with every night. I love its height and firmness. It's quite easy to turn sides and bring it over during the night.
